SEW SOMERSET

My complimentary artist's copy of Sew Somerset came yesterday.  It should be on the magazine stands around Oct 1st.  What a wonderful bunch of sewn art in this issue!  I'm so happy to be included in this brand new publication.

ANTIQUE FINDS

Isn't this just  the prettiest book!  It was a gift from a friend who knows I love these types of old books.   It was written in the 1800's in England.

Some lovely cabinet cards

The bisque girl planter on the left was covered in grime & in a friend's antique shop.  20% off an already low price.  She cleaned up wonderfully.   Then this reproduction *made in America* Hummel was only $1.  Not the real deal but I couldn't pass her up for $1.  My friend Shirley got some wonderful bargains as well.

Surprises in the Mail

I received my copy of the September Somerset Studio publication in yesterday's mail.  I skimmed through the pages looking at all the wonderful Fall/Halloween art & found an article called the Art of Presentation.  I was surprised to find one of my packages in there that Jenny had saved.  The little sewn paper purse in the lower right hand corner held the directions for one of my submittals.   Thanks Jenny for this unexpected treat!   Also be sure to check out Sandy G's article in this issue!

Then today in the mail I received my copy of the Keepsake Quilting catalog.  In it I found an add for Alex Anderson's newest book called "Neutral Essentials" with a photo of a log cabin quilt made by none other than my buddy PamKittyMorning.  Page 86.  In case you didn't know Pam does what she calls "celebrity stunt sewing" for Alex as well as Elizabeth

Somerset Home & Artful Blogging

My new issue of  "Somerset Home"  arrived yesterday!  It is always so exciting to see your work in print.  Here is a sneak peak at some of the pages.

I had two feature articles & three separate gallery type mini articles, my first mixed media work to be in print.   They should be on the news stands by Aug 1st.

The little glass flower & hosedarn card fell off on route for the photo shoot & didn't appear in the article but it was found later & safely made it home to be reattached.

I can't show you everything so you'll just have to buy the magazine to see the mirrors,  etc.  :  )

There are lots of wonderful articles & photos from some great artists in this issue.  A must see!

I also received the brand new first issue of "Artful Blogging" which features many of the art/craft blogs we know & love.   I can't wait to see who they feature next time.

COREY AMARO

One of our favorite little French bloggers from Tongue in Cheek was featured in the new August issue of Romantic Homes this month.  I knew as soon as I saw the photographs they were hers.

My First Magazine Article!

Somerset Home magazine will be out August 1st.  I just stopped by the Stampington website & saw a preview with some of my dinnerware artwork in it!    This was my first submittal to them & first time in a magazine : )  This feels very similar to when my first quilt book came out in 2005.  How exciting.

"Decorative Vintage Dinnerware".

Cover page.  I believe the "Romantic Mirrors"  mentioned on the cover is mine also as I have a collaged mirror article in this issue as well.   You can pre-order this issue from their website or pick it up later in bookstores.

AND... another great new magazine coming out  in August from Stampington is "Artful Blogging".  Talk about right up our alley!  This magazine will be featuring those amazing craft blogs that we all love.

Lazy Day

I saw the greatest crown tutorial over at Creative Chaos (pt 1)(pt 2) Now I just HAVE to make one myself.  More on that later.

This was a good mail week.  Look at my new reads.

And ... a trip to Trader Joes today.  The top cookies, oatmeal cranberry dunkers, are so yummy.  They are on the crunchy side.  These have been my fav's for a while.  Then today I tried a sample of the Oatmeal Raisin.  Wow!  Delicious. These are on the soft side & as yummy as a piece of cake or pie.  Not your ordinary cookie.  I'm taking my cookies & new mags & heading for a comfortable chair.

I was sorting through things in my sewing room.  This doll head doesn't have a body but she is cute with just her head peeping out from the flowers.

These vintage gloves are my mother's from the 50's/60's.  Aren't they sweet?

Here is a frame I found a few years ago.  It's very small & so detailed.  I believe it's celluloid.  I'm looking for just the right picture for it.

That's about it today ladies.  Have a wonderful evening!
