Who remembers these great songs? The Platters were one of the most popular groups in the 50's - 60's. They sang the most romantic slow dancing music.
Only You
Smoke Gets In Your Eyes
My mom lives in an assisted living facility & every afternoon they have someone come to entertain them. One regular singer, Denise is the daughter of one of the Platters. I told her that I had been a fan & she brought me an autographed pic from her dad. There have been a few changes in the singers over the years. Her dad is Bob White, the man in the lower left. He's in his 80's now. This made me want to go out & buy a new CD with some of those old songs of the Doo Wop era. When I listen to the songs I can remember dancing with some of my old crushes.
I think "In the Still of the Night" is one of my all time favs by The Satins.
How about Dion & the Belmonts "Teenager in Love" on American Bandstand...
Frankie Avalon singing "Venus" to the beautiful Natalie Wood.
And speaking of American Bandstand
