Etsy Update

I have just added a new piece of jewelry to my Etsy shop.

Here is a vintage inspired photo locket. The glass locket is a two sided sterling silver pendent. Within the locket are copies of an 1879 French letter. One side shows the date & the other side shows more French script. The locket opens & the photos can be changed if desired to a loved family member or anything else you desire.

The locket hangs from a soft brown velvet ribbon. At the ends of the ribbon are two steel cut antique buttons. I have oxidized the sterling silver chain & added cherry quartz & AB beads & briolettes. The chain clasp is also oxidized sterling silver.

Find of the Day - Simply Swank

I had recently been talking to a friend about both of us wanting to learn to make  soldered charms.  I found this website, Simply Swank,  quite by accident  on another blog & thought I would share with you.   They sell everything you need & even have kits.  It looks like fun so I might be giving it a try.  I  did some stained glass about  25 yrs ago & have a few tools but my soldering techniques are all but forgotten.  With S S 's  permission I am posting some pictures.

Something Old - Something New

I am in love with the jewelry that combines old & new jewelry pieces.  I have been inspired by many jewelry artists over the last few years.  I decided to pull out my beads & findings &  give it a try. 

This one has a vintage disco ball that I found at an estate sale & a vintage religious charm.  This was my first one.  On later pieces I oxidized the silver.

This one I made for my friend Pam's birthday.  I found the vintage rhinestone "P" at a doll show last year  in a box of old jewelry pieces & a vintage button or two. 

Here's a vintage religious locket & section of vintage rosary beads.

Vintage button & mother of pearl piece that I believe to be some type of belt buckle.

Nothing old on this one.  (YET)  I have been known to tear things apart & redo them.
