We went to a wedding this weekend in San Francisco. Our next door neighbor's son who we watched grow up was getting married. It was held at the most beautiful church - St. Peter & Pauls Cathedral. I've always wanted to go inside this church. It is in North Beach, an old Italian community. Right in front is Washington Square Park. During the 1906 Earthquake my grandmother had to sleep in that park as so many buildings & homes were destroyed.
The first Saints Peter and Paul was at the corner of Filbert and Grant. It was destroyed in the great San Francisco, Ca earthquake of 1906.
A second, small church was quickly rebuilt on the same site. This was recognized as only a temporary solution, because of the growth of the parish.
The current property for the church was purchased from the well-known San Francisco figure, Mr. Abe Ruef. The construction of the current church began in 1913, and was finished in 1924. See photo of original church built in the 1880's. This was Joe DiMaggio's church.

Outside there were many Segway riders on a tour.

Now that I finished my oak stained dresser for the bedroom I'm tackling the Eastlake dresser for the kitchen. I decided to paint this one. I'm working on the antiquing & still have one side to do & not sure what I want to do with the top. I may use a stencil word or words - something French of course!
A girl can't have too many mannequins. This one I founds at a garage sale for $5. It has a glue strip down the front. I may cover it with white/cream vintage buttons or a strip of twill tape. I tried picking it off but the glue is very solid. This dress form doesn't have a bottom part, just hip length floor sitter. I need to press her silk camisole.
I spotted this little gem today at a thrift store.

I'm keeping busy trying to keep my mind occupied on projects to take some worry off my mind. My mom is no longer eating, just picking at a bit of food & drinking Ensure. She has, among many other problems, advanced dementia & this is part of the process, not eating, then not drinking. Hospice has been called in to help out at her assisted living facility. She is in no pain but please keep her in your prayers. The Hospice team is just wonderful.
