Will life ever be normal again ?

 
Since we started moving there is so much to do.  I've done so many changes of address & then have to do some of them 2-3 x as they seem to ignore them.

This week we ordered a new truck for Don & put our Jeep & Motorhome up for sale.  The new plan is truck & 5th wheel.  We got our new Nev drivers licenses & are getting ready to change registrations & insurance.  Oh yes, & we applied for a permit for an additional add on garage. 

I visit my partially decorated new sewing room every so often just for a peek.  I have boxes of stuff to put away but the bookcases & dressers are still in Calif.  Maybe next month.  Until then I have one corner done!   I miss having time to sew : (  I found this headboard at a garage sale & actually started quilts for the twin guest beds last April.  Haven't touched them since.

 A bunch of us went out to an early dinner at Camp Richardson beach on Lake Tahoe a few weeks ago.  We decided we should do this once a month trying new places.

I found the great white shelf at a thrift store.

Bringing some of my fabric stash up.  I want to make two twin coverlets for the guest  beds.  They are in the works. 

I love my new bathroom!

I found the dressing table on craigslist.  It was nice just as it was but I had to make it match the aqua blues.  I just finished repainting it, then sanding off the edges to age it & add my own design.  Photo later.  It is very French looking now.  I also found the shelves & wicker mirror thrifting. Perfect for my perfume bottle collection.

 
Bluurrr.  A consignment shop chair, a gift pillow from Shirley, my brooch collection pillow & a small vintage looking pillow I made.  There is a pile of cords hiding behind the pillows so this works for now.

I finally gave in & realized my missing camera is gone for good so hubby ordered me a new one today.  I will be able to take better photos than with my phone.

 
I thought these flowers matched Shirley's pillow so they are hanging out together now.

Movin' in

Our home in Nevada is starting to look like home. We have moved quite a bit up here from Calif. Next trip my Bernina comes with me : ) I have one corner of my sewing studio decorated. We just got our new patio furniture & BBQ is on it's way. Office furniture is coming soon. I will be happy to have my own computer again instead of sharing a laptop. I like having no landline & no pesky spammy sales people & surveys. NO DSL in this area yet which is a pain. I love the scenery, mountains, cattle, llamas, sheep, beautiful parks & a great quilt shop & antique stores about a mile away. Soon I will be able to get back to posting & blog reading again. I forgot how to post photos from my iPhone do bear with me as I try.

Decorating Finds

I had to interrupt my Italy blogging for a small post.  I found this great chair at a consignment store for a fraction of the original price.  There were actually two of them but I didn't need two.  Shirley almost bought the second one but it wasn't as clean as the  one I bought.   It's a great bedroom chair.

Plays well with Furniture

Here is Shirley's great aunt's dresser I just finished refinishing.  It's now living in our bedroom instead of the garage.

My sewing room is almost finished : )

I found this cute little green table at Home Goods.  It had a few scratches on the top so was on clearance. I snapped it up.  I decided to collage the top with numerous magazine photos  in pinks & greens & a few stickers then varnish the top so I can use it as a work table. 

 

 

We finished assembling the other two bookcases so now I have room for all my "stuff".  The bottom shelves are temporarily covered here as those shelves have more cluttery stuff & the sun hits them. 

 

Have you seen this cute fabric!  It is music & dictionary words with the pretty vintage bird prints.  I used it for the actual bookcase curtains & plan to make a few other things with it.

 

 

On this wall we assembled this dresser drawer.  It hold 1/2 of my fabric.  We have another dresser just like it to put together for the rest of the fabric. 

 

I repainted my old lingerie chest green & it holds all my ribbons & vintage millinery.  The white dresser holds half of my fabric.  We have one more white dresser to put together for the rest of the fabric.  The large oval frame & Victorian diploma & the rectangle Joan of Arc print & frame were thrift store finds. 

 

 

 

This big frame & layers of matting & lace was another thrift store find.  It had a needlepoint picture in it & I replaced that with a Victorian marriage license.  I plan to paint the frame a lighter color.

A Room of Her Own

I'm going through blog withdrawal!  This last week I've been tackling order in my sewing room again.  This time I bought the proper storage cabinets.  I was tired of trying to make room where there isn't any.  I purchased two more white bookcases from Target & two white taller dressers (still to be assembled).  I am stripping off the old pink floral wallpaper & going with my favorite color of paint, in the aqua range which goes with most of my "stuff".  I have three walls stripped & two & 1/2 walls painted.  Today I'm painting the rest of the third wall then I may take a 2 day rest before tackling the last wall & dressers.  Now that I've gone through everything in the room I know where everything is!

Come on hubby, time to put together those other two bookcases. 

 

In with the aqua.  Instead of doing wallpaper again (ugh) I'm making my own.  Just paint with a randomly placed silvery gold fleur de lys stencil.  Easy peasy.

Mom's china cups & saucers & a few of my own.  See the little teeny pink tea set on the saucer.  I always wanted to play with it with my dolls & mom would never let me.  Aren't I glad she didn't.  They would be long gone by now.  My dad would take my brother & me to pick out a new tea cup every mother's day.  I also love the little chocolate cups on top.
