I love ALL TYPES OF FABRICS that can be used in quilts & decorating. I have been admiring the shibori & boro designs I've been seeing lately online, especially because blue has always been my favorite color. Some quilt fabric manufacturers have even produced some similar prints. The original ones are hand dyed using indigo & woad dyes. I even experimented on boiling avocado pits to make my own peachy pink dye for dying some laces.
I have to "borrow" some images for the indigo fabrics to show you what I'm talking about.
Many techniques are used a achieve different designs.
Many items, mostly sold in Japan use the worn fabrics from old kimonos to make things such as purses & clothing. White thread is usually used for what is called sashiko stitching
Just yesterday I learned the term "African mudcloth" by searching the words indigo, boro & shibori on Etsy.
I have save lots of pics on my albums under the Indigo Boro title. See the upper lefthand corner of this blog for the link.
Here is an interesting article on mudcloth.
