Spending most of the cold months inside I was itching to go somewhere. Don & I had some errands to do in the Berkeley/Oakland area. On our way home we headed up Ashby & passed by the Claremont Hotel. The White House of the area. I took a few pics. People were sitting out in the balcony with umbrellas & playing tennis.
It was a beautiful day for a drive. We passed by Tail of the Yak so quick I couldn't even get a pic there. Hubby wanted to get home before commute traffic started.

Then we got on 24 & headed for the Caldecott Tunnel.
Ewww, dark & spooky in there.
The next day Linda & the girls (our granddaughters) came over for the day to celebrate their b-days. All three of them within one month. I had heard the previous day that the Black Diamond Mines near us was opening that day for the season & that Doug McConnell was going to be there. Some of you might remember him from Bay Area Backroads. We used to love to watch his show & his excursions all around the Calif bay area in his little red Jeep. The mine is no longer functional but they have tours. It produced coal & sand for glass between the mid 1800's to the 1940's.
Here's Christina & I in the mine with Doug. He was very nice & friendly & gave us an autographed picture. Brrrr, it was cold in there. Next they gave us hard hats & a flashlight & we went further into the dungeon.
Here we go....
What's that up there? Is it going to fall on me?
It looks dark over there. I think I've seen enough. Let's go home & eat cake!
